Why did you introduce 1Password memberships?
1Password began as a single app for the Mac in 2006. Over the past decade we brought 1Password to Windows, iPhone, iPad, and Android. For a long time, we kept our original business model and sold licenses for each app on a per-person, per-platform basis. Occasionally, we would release major upgrades that required additional purchases.
As the years went by, we saw that the way people used technology was changing. Our customers no longer had just one computer but multiple laptops, desktops, tablets, and smartphones. They rightly expected their secure information to be available everywhere, always.
For many people, it became difficult and costly to maintain purchases that let them use 1Password everywhere, and keep all those devices in sync with third-party sync services. We introduced 1Password memberships to solve these problems by simplifying payment and upgrades and syncing everything automatically. Some additional benefits include sharing, backups, and Travel Mode.
