About Secrets Automation billing

Learn everything you need to know about paying for vault access credits with a 1Password Secrets Automation workflow.

Every Secrets Automation workflow requires vault access credits. They grant tokens access to the vaults where your secrets are stored.

Vault access credits are calculated based on the total number of vaults that all active tokens have access to. A single access token can access multiple vaults, and multiple access tokens can access a single vault. For example:

Access tokens× Vaults accessed= Vault access credits
1 access token3 vaults3 vault access credits
3 access tokens1 vault3 vault access credits
3 access tokens3 vaults9 vault access credits

Secrets Automation workflows allow you the flexibility to adhere to the principle of least privilege. The number of vault access credits your team needs will depend on your company’s infrastructure.

Pricing tiers

Tiers for Secrets Automation are assigned each day, according to the number of vault access credits in use. There are three pricing tiers for Secrets Automation that include:

  • up to 25 vault access credits
  • up to 100 vault access credits
  • up to 500 vault access credits

You can use up to three vault access credits for free. After that, you’ll be billed according to the number of active vault access credits in use for your account for each billing cycle.

Changing tiers

If you move to a lower pricing tier between billing cycles (for example, if you revoke access tokens or remove access to vaults), a prorated refund will be applied to your next invoice.

If you move to a higher pricing tier between billing cycles (for example, if you create new tokens or grant access to additional vaults), a prorated charge will be added to your next invoice.
