Create the Mimecast API 2.0 application
To connect Mimecast, you must first create a Mimecast API 2.0 application in the Mimecast Administration Console. Follow the Mimecast documentation for creating an API 2.0 application. After the API 2.0 application has been created, the client ID and client secret will be revealed. Save the client ID and client secret to your clipboard or password manager, you’ll need them to paste into SaaS Manager later.
When you create the API 2.0 application, assign these products:
- Account Management (required)
- User and Group Management (required)
- Awareness Training (only if you’ll turn on the Awareness Training option)
Then assign the application a role with the following permissions, depending on the features you’ll turn on when you connect the integration:
| Permission | Integration feature |
|---|---|
| Directories | Groups | Read | [Required] |
| Directories | Internal | Read | [Required] |
| Directories | Internal | Edit | Provisioning & Deprovisioning |
| Directories | Groups | Edit | Provisioning, Deprovisioning, and Awareness Training |
| Awareness Training | Dashboard | Read | Awareness Training |
Connect the integration in 1Password SaaS Manager
Next you’ll need to find and connect the Mimecast integration in SaaS Manager using the client ID and client secret you saved earlier.
- In SaaS Manager, go to Admin > Integrations and search for Mimecast.
- Select the Mimecast icon to see the details of the integration.
- Select Connect.
- Choose one of the three API gateway base URLs offered by Mimecast depending on your performance, compliance, and data residency needs. See the Mimecast documentation for more information about API gateway base URLs.
- Paste the client ID and client secret you saved from Mimecast into the corresponding fields on the form.
- Select Connect.
