Discover apps using login activity from the 1Password browser extension (beta)

Learn how to use login activity from the 1Password browser extension to discover apps in 1Password SaaS Manager.

Tip

This feature is currently in beta. To enable login reporting from the 1Password browser extension for your account, contact 1Password Support.

If you use both 1Password Business and 1Password SaaS Manager, you can use login activity from the 1Password browser extension to discover apps in SaaS Manager without deploying the separate SaaS Manager browser extension.

Before you begin

Before you can discover apps using the 1Password browser extension, you’ll need to:

What gets discovered

When this feature is turned on for your account, the 1Password browser extension reports login activity to SaaS Manager.

When a team member signs in to a work app with an email address that matches one of your verified domains, 1Password reports the app’s domain and the sign-in time. SaaS Manager uses this activity to identify the app and associate it with the team member’s account.

The extension doesn’t report general browsing activity or sign-ins that use an unverified domain.

View discovered apps in SaaS Manager

In SaaS Manager, you can review apps identified through reported login activity, see how many team members use them, and assess related access risks.

To view apps discovered through browser extension login activity:

  1. Sign in to your business account on 1Password.com.
  2. In the top left, select Password Manager > SaaS Manager.
  3. Select Applications in the sidebar.
  4. Filter by Source > 1Password browser extension.
  5. Select an app, then select the Accounts tab to see who uses it.

You’ll see a browser extension icon in the Sources column if login activity for the app was detected by a browser extension.

Browser extension reporting differences

The 1Password browser extension reports a narrower set of login activity than the standalone SaaS Manager browser extension.

SaaS Manager browser extension1Password browser extension
Can report logins that use an unverified domain, if enabled for your organization.Only reports logins that use a verified domain.
Reports full page URLs.Reports the app’s domain only.
Can report general browsing activity on work apps, if enabled for your organization.Reports sign-ins only, not general browsing activity.

If your organization has both extensions installed, apps discovered by either extension appear under the same “Browser Extension” source in SaaS Manager. You can’t determine which extension discovered a specific app.
