Using 1Password

1Password keyboard shortcuts

You can use your keyboard to accomplish many tasks in 1Password that normally require a mouse or trackpad.

Tip

For shortcuts that work on the 1Password website, select the Help button and choose Keyboard Shortcuts. Your browser could prevent some shortcuts from working correctly.

Global keyboard shortcuts

To customize these keyboard shortcuts, open and unlock 1Password, then click your account or collection at the top of the sidebar and choose Settings > General.

To open the 1Password pop-up in your browser, make sure you have the 1Password browser extension installed. Then you can use the following shortcuts:

If you have an external keyboard connected to your iPhone or iPad, you can use keyboard shortcuts in 1Password. To show a list of shortcuts available at any moment, press and hold the Command key on the keyboard.

Global keyboard shortcuts

If you’re using Linux with the X11 or Wayland protocols, you can customize global keyboard shortcuts for 1Password.

X11

Open and unlock 1Password, then click your account or collection at the top of the sidebar and choose Settings > General. You can use these default keyboard shortcuts or create your own.

Open your System Settings app, then go to Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts and click Customize Shortcuts. Select Custom Shortcuts, then click the plus button or Add Shortcut. Enter the name, command, and keyboard shortcut you want to use. For example:

Open your System Settings app, then go to Shortcuts > Custom Shortcuts. Select Edit > New > Global Shortcut > Command/URL. Enter the trigger (keyboard shortcut) and action (command) you want to use. For example:
