About the change
Starting with 1Password for Mac 8.10.9, customers who use the 1Password PKG installer will no longer receive automatic updates. Updates can now be installed by downloading the latest version of the PKG installer and running it.
This change gives organizations more control over installing updates to 1Password for Mac, especially if they don’t have a mobile device managament (MDM) solution in place.
What to do
If you’ve never used the PKG installer, you’ll continue to receive automatic updates to 1Password for Mac.
If you’ve used the PKG installer to install or deploy 1Password for Mac, download the latest version of the PKG installer and install or redeploy it to perform updates. To check for app updates, visit the 1Password Releases website or subscribe to the RSS feed
If you were using an MDM solution to control the built-in updater after deploying 1Password for Mac, you’ll no longer need to enforce this setting after you deploy 1Password for Mac 8.10.9 or later.
