1Password extension is disabled in Chrome and “requires new permissions”

1Password requires more permissions

To save and fill in Chrome, the 1Password classic extension has always required permission to “Read and change all your data on the websites that you visit”.

1Password classic extension version 4.6.4 requires one additional permission:

Communicate with cooperating native applications

This request is genuine and safe to approve. It allows the 1Password classic extension to communicate more directly with Chrome.

Safari and Firefox are not affected.

What you should do

To continue using 1Password to save and fill passwords, re-enable the 1Password classic extension.

1Password requires new permissions

  1. Click the orange exclamation point in the Chrome toolbar and choose “1Password: Password Manager and Secure Wallet requires new permissions”.
  2. Click Re-enable.
