Send notifications about developer secrets on local disks

Help

Email notifications for developer secrets on local disks aren’t automated at this time. You’ll need to manually copy the notifications and send emails to affected team members.

When you turn on the local disk scanning policy, 1Password generates a developer secrets discovery report that identifies developer secrets stored in plaintext on devices signed in to your organization’s 1Password account with the desktop app. You can send notifications to the affected team members so they can secure those secrets.

To notify a team member about plaintext developer secrets found on their device:

  1. In the developer secrets discovery report, select the link in the People column for a secret that needs to be mitigated.
  2. In the Actions column, select Preview message for one of the people in the list. The message contains the name of the secret, the device and file path where it’s located, and the recommended action to secure it.
  3. Select Copy message, then paste the message into an email and send it to the recipient.
