
1Password for iOS is the simple, beautiful password manager you’ve been looking for. Easily organize your secure information, save and fill passwords in Safari, and have everything available at your fingertips.
Before you get started, download and set up 1Password on your iPhone or iPad.
Create and edit items
When you open 1Password, select Items, then select All Items to see a list of all your items, like your passwords and credit cards.
If you're using an iPad, select All Items in the sidebar.
To create an item, select and choose an item category. You can also search for popular logins and item categories. After you make a selection, enter the item details and select Save.
To edit an item, select it, then select Edit. When you’re done making changes, select Save.
To see only certain types of items, select All Categories at the top of the item list, then choose the category you want.
You can personalize your items with your own icons that will appear throughout 1Password. Edit an item, then select the item’s icon to get started.
You can also add custom fields, including unique answers to security questions.
Use 1Password in Safari
1Password lets you fill passwords, credit cards, and addresses directly in Safari.

Use 1Password to sign in to apps and websites
You can use 1Password to save usernames, passwords, and passkeys and sign in to apps and websites on your iPhone or iPad.
You can also drag and drop item details, like usernames and passwords, from 1Password to other apps.
- Select and hold the item detail until the dropdown menu appears.
- Drag your finger away from the field until you see the detail appear under your finger.
- Use a second finger to open another app.
- Drag the item detail to the field you want to fill.
- Lift your finger to drop the text.
Pin item fields to the Home screen
When you pin an item field to the Home screen, you can quickly copy it later.
For example, to pin a password to the Home screen, select an item to see its details, then select and hold on the password field and select Pin to Home.
To copy the contents of a field you pinned to the Home screen, select Home, then select the field.

Customize your Home screen and items tab
You can choose what you want to see on the Home screen and in the items tab.
To customize your Home screen, select Home, then scroll to the bottom and select Customize.
To customize your items tab, select Items, then scroll to the bottom and select Customize.

You can turn sections on and off and rearrange them. When you’re finished making changes, select Done.

Share items
You can securely share copies of passwords and other items you’ve saved in 1Password with anyone, even if they don’t use 1Password.
Select the item you want to share, then select .
You’ll get a unique link that you can send to others. You can choose when the link expires and who can access it.

Search 1Password
Searching is the fastest way to find what you need in 1Password. Select the search field at the top of the screen and start typing to find what you’re looking for.
You can search and find anything, like items, tags, categories, and vaults.
You can also search 1Password from your Home screen using Spotlight.

Sort items
To change how items are sorted in a list, select at the top.
For example, you can sort your items by their title, the date you last made changes to them, or how frequently you use them.

Organize with favorites and tags
You can organize your items with tags or mark them as favorites to quickly access them when you need them.
To mark an item as a favorite, select it to see its details, then select > Add to Favorites.
To create a tag, open an item, then select Edit. Scroll down, then select Add tag. Enter the name of a tag, then select Create Tag, or choose a tag from the list above the keyboard.


Use collections to create custom groups of vaults
Every item in 1Password is stored in a vault. You can create vaults to organize your items. If you have multiple 1Password accounts, each account has its own vaults.
You can create collections to view items from a custom group of vaults from any of your accounts. Select the icon for your account or collection at the top left, then select Create a Collection > New Collection.
If you don't see Create a Collection, select Manage Collections > New Collection.
To switch to a collection or account, select the icon for your account or collection at the top left, then choose the account or collection you want.
If you're using an iPad, select your account or collection at the top of the sidebar.

Move and copy items
To move or copy an item, select the item you want. Select , then select Move or Duplicate. Choose the vault you want to move or copy the item to.
When you move or copy an item, the confirmation screen will show you who will have access to the item in the new vault.

See who has access to an item
If you share vaults with others, you can see who has access to an item. Select the people icon above the name of an item to see a list of people and groups who have access to it.
If you don’t see the people icon , then only you have access to the item.

Use Watchtower
Watchtower tells you about password breaches and other security problems on the websites you have saved in 1Password.
To view your Watchtower dashboard, select Watchtower.
To see when a website you have an account for is added to Watchtower, select the icon for your account or collection at the top left > Settings. Select Privacy and turn on Watchtower options you’d like to see results for.
If you're using an iPad, select your account or collection at the top of the sidebar.

Add formatting to your secure notes with Markdown. View your text with headers, bold and italic styles, lists, and more.

Reveal and enlarge passwords
You can temporarily reveal or enlarge a password to make it easier to see while entering it on another device or reading it aloud.
To reveal a password, select and hold the password, then select Reveal.
To enlarge a password, select and hold the password, then select Show in Large Type.

View item details across your Apple devices
Handoff lets you view an item on one Apple device, then pick it up on another.
When you use 1Password to view the details of an item on one Apple device, open the App Switcher on your iPhone and select the 1Password banner at the bottom of the screen to view the same item.
If you're using an iPad, select the Handoff icon for 1Password in the Dock to view the same item.

Archive and delete items
To archive an item, select it, then select > Archive.
To restore an item from the Archive, select Items, then select Archive. Select the item you want, then select > Restore Item.
If you're using an iPad, select Archive in the sidebar.
To delete an item, select it, then select > Delete.
To restore a deleted item, select Items, then scroll down and select Recently Deleted. Select the item you want, then select > Restore Item.
If you're using an iPad, select Recently Deleted in the sidebar.

Lock and unlock 1Password
When you’re done using 1Password, you can lock it. To lock 1Password, select the icon for your account or collection at the top left, then select Lock.
If you're using an iPad, select your account or collection at the top of the sidebar.
To unlock 1Password again, enter your account password. You can also choose to use Touch ID, Face ID, your passcode, and even your iPhone or iPad itself to unlock 1Password.
