Kolide by 1Password allows your employer to make sure your device is healthy before you access company applications. Many companies have obligations to enforce certain security requirements and protect sensitive data, including on their employee’s devices.
Kolide provides clear instructions when you need to fix an issue, often before you’re prevented from accessing company services, so you won’t need to ask your IT team for help.
You may see prompts for common issues like:
- Your operating system or browser needs to be updated
- Your computer doesn’t automatically lock when the screensaver starts
- Your malware protection software isn’t working properly
How Kolide preserves your privacy
Kolide by 1Password is designed to be transparent and preserve the privacy of the team members who use it. You can review what Kolide can do, how your company uses it, and what data they can access at any time.
Select the Kolide icon in your menu bar or system tray, then select View Details to open the My Device portal. Select the security camera in the sidebar to open the My Data Privacy page.
You can see who can access your data, the data collected from your devices, and the device checks used by your company.
How you interact with Kolide
When your company uses Kolide, you’ll interact with it in three common ways:
- When you authenticate with a single-sign on (SSO) provider
- In the menu bar, system tray, or through notifications on your computer
- On your mobile device
When you authenticate using SSO
Kolide may check your device for issues when you sign in with SSO, depending on how it’s set up by your administrators.
If it finds a problem, it may ask you to fix it before you can finish signing in to an app. You’ll also see information on how to fix the issue.
After you fix the issue, select Recheck Device to continue signing in with your SSO provider. If your administrator allows, you may also be able to select Snooze to continue signing in for a limited amount of time before you fix the issue.
In your menu bar, system tray, or through notifications
Kolide can also share updates about your computer’s status in your menu bar, system tray, or through notifications. These alerts will inform you how long you have to fix issues before they may prevent you from signing in with SSO.
Select the Kolide icon in your menu bar or system tray at any time to see if there are issues you may need to resolve.
