Help
Email customization is rolling out gradually. If you don’t see a “Customize emails” tab on the Invitations page, check back at a later date.
With 1Password Business, owners and administrators can customize the emails team members or guests receive when invited to join a 1Password account.
Sign in to your account on 1Password.com and select Invitations in the sidebar, then choose Customize emails to get started.
Before you begin
Before you can create and send custom emails, you’ll need to verify that you control a domain.
You can only send custom invitations to those who have an email address associated with one of your verified domains.
Customize emails
To get started, select Invitations in the sidebar on 1Password.com. Then select Customize emails and select Edit beside the specific email you want to customize.
On the “Email editor” page, there are multiple email customization options:
- Subject line: Customize the subject line of the email people will see for invitations.
You won't see previews of your subject line changes in "Email preview".
- Company logo: Add your company logo so team members recognize the 1Password account they’re joining.
- Email content: Edit the invitation email content. You can use Markdown to format it.
As you make changes, you’ll see a preview of your email in “Email preview”. You’ll lose your changes if you leave the “Email editor” page without publishing your updates.
You can select Restore default to reset the invitation email back to its original contents.
Save customizations
Select Send test email to send yourself a copy of the updated invitation email. The test email is only sent to the email address associated with the administrator or owner who selects this option.
Select Publish to save your customizations.
Security design
Custom emails are sent from a unique subdomain, custommail.1password.com/ca/eu
, and through a dedicated Amazon SES (Simple Email Service)
account. This helps to make sure that any issues, like spam reports or blocklisting, remain isolated and don’t impact the deliverability of your organization’s other email traffic.
Any URLs that you add to the custom email appear as unformatted text instead of hyperlinks to reduce phishing risks and avoid triggering spam filters.
Appendix: Supported Markdown syntax
You can format the content of you invitation emails with the following Markdown syntax:
Style | Syntax |
---|---|
Heading | # Heading 1, ## Heading 2, ### Heading 3 |
Bold | **Bold** |
Italic | _Italic_ or *Italic* |
Dividing line | --- |
● Bulleted list | * List item Use asterisks (*), hyphens (-), or plus signs (+). |
1. Numbered list | 1. List item |
Code | `Code` |
| ``` Pre-formatted text ``` |
If you include unsupported Markdown syntax, the formatting characters will appear as unformatted text in your invitation emails.
