Sign in to 1Password with Okta

Learn how to unlock 1Password with Okta.

If your team’s 1Password Business account has Unlock with Identity Provider turned on, you’ll see “Sign in with Okta” whenever you unlock 1Password. You’ll use your Okta username and password to unlock 1Password.

If you’re signed in to multiple accounts, entering your Okta username and password will only unlock your work account.

When you navigate to your team’s 1Password sign-in address, you may need to enter your email address if you’re signing in for the first time. After entering your email address:

  1. Click “Sign in with Okta”.
  2. Enter your Okta username and password and click Sign In.

If you're already signed in to Okta, you won't have to enter your Okta username and password.

In the browser extension

Important

You must have the beta release of 1Password for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Brave installed to sign in with Okta. Unlock with Okta isn’t available in Safari during the beta period.

If your account has 1Password with Okta turned on, you’ll see a “Sign in with Okta” button when you open 1Password for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Brave.

  1. Click “Sign in with Okta”. You’ll be redirected to 1Password.com
  2. Click “Sign in with Okta”.
  3. Enter your Okta username and password and click Sign In.

If you're already signed in to Okta, you won't have to enter your Okta username and password.

In the apps

If your account has 1Password with Okta turned on, you’ll see a “Sign in with Okta” button when you open 1Password and sign in to your account.

Important

You must be using the nightly release of 1Password 8 to sign in with Okta. 1Password 7 does not support Unlock with Okta. We recommend team members uninstall 1Password 7 from their computers and mobile devices before testing.

  1. Click “Sign in with Okta”. You’ll be redirected to Okta.
  2. Enter your Okta username and password, then click Sign In.

If you're already signed in to Okta, you won't have to enter your Okta username and password.

Important

You must be using the nightly release of 1Password 8 for iOS to sign in with Okta. 1Password 7 does not support Unlock with Okta. We recommend team members uninstall 1Password 7 from their computers and mobile devices before testing.

  1. Tap “Sign in with Okta”. You’ll be redirected to Okta.
  2. Enter your Okta username and password, then tap Sign In.

If you're already signed in to Okta, you won't have to enter your Okta username and password.
