How to change ownership of your NativeMessagingHosts folder

  1. Open Terminal, which is in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.

  2. Copy and paste the following command and press Return:

     sudo chown "$USER":staff ~/Library/Application\ Support/Google/Chrome/NativeMessagingHosts ~/Library/Application\ Support/Mozilla/NativeMessagingHosts
    
  3. Enter the password you use to log in to your Mac and press Return. You won’t see any visual feedback when you enter each character.

    If you see a “No such file or directory” message, ignore it and follow the additional steps below.

  4. Click the 1Password icon in the menu bar and choose Quit.

    If you're using 1Password 7, choose 1Password > Quit 1Password Completely from the menu bar. If you're using 1Password 6 or earlier, hold down the Control and Option keys on your keyboard and choose 1Password > Quit 1Password and 1Password mini.

  5. Open 1Password again.

  6. Restart any open browsers.
