Multi-tenancy

Create policy templates in a multi-tenancy 1Password account

Learn how to create and manage policy templates in a multi-tenancy 1Password account.

After you set up a multi-tenancy 1Password account, you can create policy templates in the parent account to control team policies in the child accounts.

Create a policy template

  1. Sign in to your parent account on 1Password.com.
  2. Select Policies on the sidebar.
  3. Select Policy Templates under the Child account section.
  4. Select Manage, then select + Create template.
  5. Enter a name for the template.
  6. Select Add policies, then choose policies to add to the template. More policies will be available to add in the future.
  7. When you’re done configuring the policy, select Apply to all child accounts.

After you save the changes, administrators in child accounts will only be able to view policies controlled by a template. You can edit the policy template to make changes to the policies in child accounts.

Future updates

Later in the early access period, we plan to add the following features to policy templates:

  • Create multiple policy templates.
  • Assign child accounts to templates individually.
  • Delete templates.
  • Allow child accounts to override a policy configuration.

Contact your 1Password representative if you have feedback during the early access period.
