Import data from a vault in the Agile Keychain format

Importing your data from an Agile Keychain requires 1Password 7 on a Mac or Windows PC.

Tip

If you’re not using 1Password 7 on a Mac or Windows PC, learn how to switch from the Agile Keychain format.

Important

Starting in early 2027, 1Password 7 will be retired. If you continue to use 1Password 7 after this time, it’ll no longer reflect any changes you make in your 1Password account.

Learn how to upgrade to 1Password 8 to avoid any disruptions to your 1Password experience.

Instructions for

  1. Open and unlock 1Password.
  2. Select File > Import from the menu bar.
  3. Select 1Password Keychain and the vault you want to import into.
  4. Select Choose File, select your .agilekeychain file, then select Open.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish importing your data.
  1. Open and unlock 1Password.
  2. Select 1Password > Open vault on this PC.
  3. Select your .agilekeychain folder, then select Select folder.
  4. Enter the vault password, then select Open.

1Password will convert your vault to the newer OPVault format.
