If you're unable to use 1Password in a virtual machine

If you’re using a virtual machine, and the 1Password app isn’t responsive when you open it, you can turn off hardware acceleration to try to fix the issue.

  1. Right-click the 1Password icon in the menu bar and choose Quit.

  2. Open Terminal, which is in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.

  3. Copy and paste the following command, then press Return:

     /Applications/1Password.app/Contents/MacOS/1Password --disable-gpu
    
  4. Click 1Password in the menu bar and choose Settings.

  5. Click Advanced, then turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

When you close the Terminal window, the 1Password app will quit. You can then open 1Password again like you normally would.

  1. Right-click the 1Password icon in the system tray and choose Quit.

  2. Click the Start button and type “Command Prompt”, then press Enter.

  3. Copy and paste the following command, then press Enter:

     start 1password --disable-gpu
    
  4. Click the ellipsis in the top left and choose Settings.

  5. Click Advanced, then turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

When you close the Command Prompt window, the 1Password app will quit. You can then open 1Password again like you normally would.

  1. Right-click the 1Password icon in the system tray and choose Quit.

  2. Open your terminal.

  3. Copy and paste the following command, then press Enter:

     1password --disable-gpu
    

    If you installed 1Password with a .tar.gz file, copy and paste this command instead: /opt/1Password/1password --disable-gpu

  4. Click the ellipsis in the top left and choose Settings.

  5. Click Advanced, then turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

When you close the terminal window, the 1Password app will quit. You can then open 1Password again like you normally would.
