If you see “your items couldn’t be moved automatically”

Get help when 1Password 7 can’t automatically transfer your items to your 1Password account.

If you have trouble automatically migrating your existing 1Password data to a 1Password account, you can still manually copy your items.

Step 1: Delete any items that were copied to your account

Some of your items may have been copied to your 1Password account before the problem occurred. To prevent duplicates, open the vault you were transferring items to and remove any items that weren’t already there:

  1. Select Vault > Switch to Vault and choose your Personal, Private, or Employee vault. The name of this vault varies depending on your account type.
  2. Select some or all the items in the vault.
  3. Select Item > Delete.

  2. Select Select Items, then select the items, or select the checkbox above the list to select all items.
  3. Select Delete.

  2. Select the ellipsis > Select, then choose the items, or select > Select All to select all the items.
  3. Select the trash button .

Step 2: Copy items to your 1Password account

Copy your items to your new account. You only need to do this on one device.

  1. Select Vault > Switch to Vault and choose your Primary vault.
  2. Select all the items in the vault.
  3. Select Item > Copy to Vault and choose a vault in your 1Password account.
  1. Select the All Vaults icon and choose your Primary vault.
  2. Select Select Items, then select the checkbox above the list to select all the items in the vault.
  3. Select Copy and choose a vault in your 1Password account.
  1. Select the All Vaults icon and choose your Primary vault.
  2. Select > Select All.
  3. Select Copy and choose the vault where you want to copy the item(s).
    If you don’t see Copy, first select .

Step 3: Remove the old Primary vault

After you’ve copied everything to your new account, remove the old Primary vault so you don’t have duplicates of everything:

  1. Select Vault > Switch to Vault > Primary.
  2. Select Vault > Delete Vault.

  2. Select Delete Vault.
  1. Select Settings > Advanced.
  2. Select Delete Primary Vault.

If you can’t remove the old Primary vault, make sure you’ve migrated all your standalone vaults. Then remove them and try again.
