Manage auto-lock in 1Password Business

Learn how to manage the auto-lock settings for your team’s 1Password browser extensions and apps.

With 1Password Business, you can use a policy to enforce when the 1Password browser extension and apps will lock on team members' devices. Your auto-lock policy will immediately apply to all 1Password apps and extensions where team members are signed in to their business accounts.

You can manage the policy if you’re an owner, administrator, or part of a group with the Manage Settings permission.

Manage the policy

  1. Sign in to your account on 1Password.com.
  2. Select Policies in the sidebar.
  3. Select Manage on the Authentication policy.
  4. Turn on Auto-lock and choose when you want 1Password to lock automatically.
  5. Select Save.

1Password apps and browser extensions will now lock after the idle time you’ve selected. For example, if your auto-lock policy is set to 5 minutes, your team members' apps will lock after 5 minutes of inactivity.

If the policy has been turned on, team members won’t be able to adjust the “Lock after the computer is idle” setting in their 1Password apps and browser extensions. They’ll see a message indicating that the auto-lock settings are managed by their administrator.
