How to add your 1Password account to the apps

Learn how to add your account to the 1Password apps alongside your existing data.

Tip

If you want to move your existing 1Password data to a 1Password account, it’s simple to migrate your data.

Add your account to the app

To add your account to 1Password for Mac:

  1. Click your account or collection at the top of the sidebar and choose Manage Accounts.
  2. Click Add an Account and follow the onscreen instructions.

    If you need to sign in to a new account, and you see a list of existing accounts, click "Sign in with a different account".

After you add multiple accounts to 1Password for Mac, you can enter the password for any of them to unlock the app. Any other accounts that use that password will also unlock.

To add your account to 1Password for iOS:

  1. Open and unlock 1Password.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap 1Password Accounts.
  4. Tap Add Existing Account.
  5. Tap Scan Setup Code if you have your Setup Code available. Otherwise enter your account details.
  6. Enter your 1Password account password and tap “Sign in”.

The account password that unlocks the app will always be the password for the first account you sign in to, even if you add additional accounts with different account passwords.

To add your account to 1Password for Windows:

  1. Click your account or collection at the top of the sidebar and choose Manage Accounts.
  2. Click Add an Account and follow the onscreen instructions.

    If you need to sign in to a new account, and you see a list of existing accounts, click "Sign in with a different account".

After you add multiple accounts to 1Password for Windows, you can enter the password for any of them to unlock the app. Any other accounts that use that password will also unlock.

To add your account to 1Password for Android:

  1. Open and unlock 1Password.
  2. Tap Settings > 1Password Accounts.
  3. Tap the plus button then tap Scan Your Setup Code.
  4. Scan your Setup Code and enter your 1Password account password.

The account password that unlocks the app will always be the password for the first account you sign in to, even if you add additional accounts with different account passwords.

To add your account to 1Password for Linux:

  1. Click your account or collection at the top of the sidebar and choose Manage Accounts.
  2. Click Add an Account and follow the onscreen instructions.

After you add multiple accounts to 1Password for Linux, you can enter the password for any of them to unlock the app. Any other accounts that use that password will also unlock.
